Bill Description
AN ACT relating to elections; requiring absentee ballots to contain an official envelope inside the inner ballot envelope; requiring absentee voters to provide identification information as specified; and providing for an effective date.
Notes
The electoral system cannot inspire public confidence if no safeguards exist to deter or detect fraud or to confirm the identity of voters. Wyoming lawmakers must ensure that all eligible Wyomingites are able to vote and that their votes are not stolen or diluted by fraud or administrative errors. HB145 is a common sense bill that helps ensure Wyoming maintains the highest degree of integrity in all elections.
HB145 will require that the following basic minimal identification information in the official envelope inside the inner ballot envelope:
The elector's Wyoming driver's license number or if the elector has no Wyoming driver's license, one (1) of the following:
(A) The elector's Wyoming identification card number issued under W.S. 31‑8‑101;
(B) The last four (4) digits of the elector's social security number.
