Summary

Bill Description

AN ACT relating to elections; requiring proof of United States citizenship to register to vote as specified; providing a definition of "proof of United States citizenship"; making conforming amendments; and providing for an effective date.

Notes

The electoral system cannot inspire public confidence if no safeguards exist to deter or detect fraud or to confirm the identity of voters.  Wyoming lawmakers must ensure that all eligible Wyomingites are able to vote and that their votes are not stolen or diluted by fraud or administrative errors.

HB157 helps protect election integrity by requiring that voter registration include evidence of proof of United States citizenship by anyone registering to vote in Wyoming.
