AN ACT relating to education; establishing the Wyoming imagination library program; providing funding for the free distribution of books to young children as specified; providing definitions; creating an account; requiring rule making; providing an appropriation; and providing for an effective date.

Notes

This bill contains an appropriation of $320,000 from the GENERAL FUND to the WYOMING IMAGINATION LIBRARY PROGRAM ACCOUNT created by this bill.

This bill not only increases spending but mandates the Wyoming Department of Education:

- Provide books to children under the age of 5 with no guidelines on what the content will be

- Provide books to children under the age of 5 with no parental approval guidelines

- Coordinate with an "undisclosed" nonprofit entity to promote the program
