Bill Description
AN ACT relating to registered offices and agents; authorizing the secretary of state to release confidential information maintained by registered agents as specified; and providing for an effective date.
Notes
A terrible bill that greatly erodes the privacy protection of thousands of Wyomingites by allowing certain confidential information held by the Secretary of State to be accessible by any county assessor or county treasurer for official business upon a simple written application.
To understand the significance of this change in statues consider that currently this same confidential information can only be released pursuant to court ordered subpoena to a bona fide law enforcement agency for use in a criminal investigation. The new law allows county assessors and treasurers to access the information for undefined "official business" with a mere written application and no court order. Something law enforcement does not even have the ability to do.
